Hardware
Minimum requirements of hardware needed to electronically file, view and retrieve case documents are:

IBM-compatible

• Pentium processor-based personal computer, with 16 MB of RAM (24 for Windows NT), with 40 MB of available hard disk space and a Windows 95, 98, 2000 or Windows NT operating system
  

• CD-ROM drive or 3.5" diskette drive (NOTE: Adobe sells the Acrobat software on CD-ROM only. If you desire the diskette software, you must complete the request provided with the software and forward, together with $25.00, to Adobe)

• Modem, 56K (or faster) or other Internet Access device

• Scanner for conversion and transmission of documents not in a word processing system. Please read these scanning guidelines.

Macintosh

• Macintosh with a 68020 processor or Power Macintosh, with 16MB of available RAM, and 40 MB of available hard disk space

• Apple System Software version 7.1.2 or later

• CD-ROM drive or 3.5" diskette drive (NOTE: Adobe sells the Acrobat software on CD-ROM only. If you desire the diskette software, you must complete the request provided with the software and forward, together with $25.00, to Adobe)

• Modem, 56K (or faster) to other Internet Access device

• Scanner for conversion and transmission of documents not in a word processing system. Please read these scanning guidelines.

Software

• Adobe Acrobat software 4.0 or 5.0 (If using Acrobat 6, please see below) to convert documents from word processor format to .pdf (Portable Document Format). Another option would be pdfFactory. Acrobat 6 Compatibility Issues - each of the following 3 items must be addressed in order to insure correctness with documents submitted to the court from users of Acrobat 6.

• Creating PDF by Direct Scan
• Printing to PDF Writer
• Printing to PDF Distiller

After completing the necessary steps above, the document properties should be checked to insure backward compatibility. Click here for detailed information about Checking Document Properties.

NOTE: Any time you modify a .pdf document in Acrobat 6 (e.g. inserting a page, deleting a page etc...). Use the procedures outlined in Creating PDF by Direct Scan when saving .pdf files after modifications. The SAVE or SAVE AS option should NEVER be used on .pdf files that are being submitted to the court.

• Firefox software or Microsoft Internet Explorer software. (version 5.5 or above).

• An Internet Service Provider, using point-to-point protocol (PPP). America On Line(AOL) is not endorsed for use with ECF. It is recommended that your service provider have a minimum connection speed of 56K.

• Pop-up Blockers are not recommended for use with ECF. They could possibly conflict with our credit card payment module.
